Technical Information On All Goodwood Toilet Seats
Dimensions
All sizes are in millimetres
Seat sizes
All seat sizes given are overall of the seat section only. The hinge dimension (see figure A and text over) has to be added (or deducted) and taken into consideration.
Seat hinge centres
The hinge centres are the normal default size used. It is possible to specify smaller or larger (subject to the physical restriction of the back edge of the seat) with order. It is not possible to alter after order. There is a finite amount of adjustment with the hinge (see Figure C ant text over). Whilst seats can be supplied without hinge there is no benefit as
the manufacturing process leaves small indents in the surface which are covered by the hinge so hinge centres are still required.
Vertical fitting hinges
All patterns and models shown in this can only be used with the hinges shown overleaf and fitted in a vertical plane as in Fig A . They can not be bolted to a horizontal or sloping pottery surface
Model names
The model names used in the index are our file names. They are names given to us or created during inception. Whilst we would always use the generic model name if known it is not a guarantee that the name is the same shape as a similar named model. The responsibility for the correct shape has to be with the buyer. The intention of this guide is to assist in the choice of model
Manufactures names
Likewise the name of the manufacturer given is a guide only. In most cases the information collated has been presented from trade clients and not the manufactures themselves. Should any models be subject to any copyright or registered design we apologise and point out that our intention is to offer a replacement after sales market or a alternate finish option where it is not available within the original model range.
B.H.F. blind hole fittings (concealed hinge)
Where known or suspected we have listed B.H.F against the モusual hinge centresヤ in the guide. Blind hole fittings or fixings are used where access to the underside of the pan is restricted or not possible in order to tighten bolts. Once again this is stated to the best of our knowledge and it is the responsibility of the buyer to establish the requirement. There is a surcharge for these hinges, please refer to the price list. (See Pic D&E over)
Template service
If you are unable to establish which model seat is the most suitable we are happy to post you full size templates. As these are hand traced from hard copies on to A1 paper please restrict your choice to no more than 4 templates.
Identification service
As a faster alternative to the template service, post us your template and we will identify the best fit seat. The template can be of either your pan or original seat if you are happy with the shape but do indicate from which it is as well as show the position of the seat fixing holes. Also please label the template with your name and telephone number. We will identify the best model for you or send some close alternatives.
Modifications to shapes in the collection
It as possible for a small surcharge to increase or decrease the overall size of any of the seat models. The maximum increase is 50mm overall and decrease15mm overall. This is the overall increase so a 10mm increase will enlarge the seat by 5mm all-round. Beware that this increases the length as well as the width. Normally the centre hole remains the same but can be increased (made larger) by 10mm overall in conjunction with a seat enlargement of the same size. It is not possible to increase the hole size without a prorata increase of the seat size. On the rare occasions that no suitable shape exists it is
possible to create a new program and jig. This is an extensive operation and the cost will depend on the models popularity. Please call our sales office to discuss.

Here is the side elevation of an hinge which is mounted in it's preferred position (Fig A) .

Underside of hinge mounting disc showing the 4 mounting holes (Fig B)
Here the hinge is mounted with the fixing bolts fitted to the central threaded screw (no1 Fig B) on the mounting disc. When the disc is rotated and tightened facing outwards, the back edge of the seat is 27mm forward of the seat mounting holes on the pan. This is the optimum position as the centre of gravity is
away from the cistern or back wall. This avoids the possibility of the seat not staying up whilst giving the most solid fixing. If the most outboard threaded screw position is used (no 4) whilst maintaining the same disc position the back of the seat will be 40mm forward of the seat mounting holes. This pushes the centre of gravity on the seat furthest from the cistern or back wall.

Plan of hinge pillar (Fig C) Showing disc, wing bracket to seat, bar and part of seat. The solid black circle indicates the hinge in the preferred position. The small dotted circles indicate the threaded screw points. The larger dotted circles represent some of the positions that the disc can be rotated in. In all positions mounting the pan fixing bolt will be 27mm from Point F when using threaded mount hole position 4. It will be 13mm using position 1 and 17mm in position 2 and 3.
